This Privacy Policy explains how TipCalc Deluxe ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the TipCalc Deluxe mobile application (the "App").

2. Information we collect and how we use it
2.1 Receipt images (for optional OCR scanning)
If you choose to use the optional receipt scanning feature, the App may ask for permission to use your camera or access your photo library. When you take or select a receipt photo, the App converts the image to an in-memory representation and sends it to an AI service to extract the bill total, subtotal, tax amount, and tax rate.
The image is used only for this one-time extraction. It is not stored in the App once processing is complete. The AI provider may temporarily process the image on their servers in order to return the extracted values.
2.2 Advertising and identifiers
TipCalc Deluxe uses Google Mobile Ads to show banner ads. On iOS, the App may request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission. If you grant permission, Google Mobile Ads may use the device advertising identifier and other signals to show more relevant (personalized) ads. If you decline, you will still see non-personalized or contextual ads.

2.3 Usage within the App (history and presets)
The App stores your calculation history and any saved presets (for example, your preferred tip percentage, split count, tax settings, and rounding mode) locally on your device. This information is used only to power App features like history and quick re-use of previous setups. It is not sent to our servers.
3. Data retention
- Receipt images used for OCR are not stored in the App after processing. They are sent once to the AI service and then discarded locally.
- Calculation history and presets are stored locally on your device and remain until you clear them from within the App or uninstall the App.
- Any configuration related to ads and tracking is managed by the underlying ad provider and your device settings.
4. Your choices
You have full control over the permissions you grant to the App:
- You can choose not to grant camera or photo library access. You will still be able to use the App by entering bill amounts manually.
- On iOS, you can decline tracking permission (ATT). You will still see non-personalized ads.
- You can clear your history within the App or uninstall the App at any time to remove locally stored data from your device.
5. Children's privacy
TipCalc Deluxe is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us so we can delete it.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or applicable laws. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
